Dr. Adam Lee Goldstein
Co-Director
Born and raised in Washington DC, Adam immigrated to Israel after high school. After a first degree in geology and creative writing he found his passion in medicine after volunteering in a Mother Teresa Clinic in Ethiopia. He went on to study medicine at the School of International Health at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev followed by a general surgery residency at Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv. After completing his residency he completed a fellowship in Trauma surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. Currently he is the head of trauma surgery at Wolfson Medical Center. Adam aims to optimize trauma care for the community, strengthen access to care for neglected populations, and form bridges of communication and cooperation with Palestinian peers.
Dr. Tamer Jreis
Co-Director
Tamer was born and raised in Bethlehem and received his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Cairo in Egypt. He returned to Palestine and undertook medical rotations at Governmental and private hospitals in the West Bank. Tamer is currently an anesthesiology and critical care physician at the Hadassah Medical Organization in Jerusalem. Tamer is a seasoned social entrepreneur having undertook multiple medical initiatives aimed at strengthening the Palestinian health system, especially during the recent pandemic where he worked to secure equipment and training to improve health outcomes.
Angie Alpern
Project Manager
Angie orchestrates the execution of our programs, ensuring every detail contributes to our mission's success. Recruitment is an area where Angie excels as she reaches out to major hospitals and builds relationships with program directors on both the Israeli and Palestinian sides. This collaboration enhances the impact of our initiatives. As the main liaison with the "Civil Administration," Angie efficiently manages permit-related matters at checkpoints, ensuring compliance and the smooth facilitation of our programs. Continuous support to course participants is a priority, addressing issues and accommodating requests promptly and professionally. As she takes a holistic approach, Angie assists the Co-Director in various capacities, contributing to the overall success of our organization's mission. From lodging and transportation to catering, Angie is the queen of logistics ensuring the success of our programs.
Emma Oliver
Public Relations Manager
Emma moved to Israel after graduating from university with a degree in mass communications and political science. She moved with the goal of understanding the Middle East from a first-hand perspective and advocating for peace-building among all religions in the region. Her background is in media, as she has worked in the news realm since moving to Israel two years ago. While working at a television channel that broadcasts in English and Arabic, Emma has been able to build relationships with thousands of people from all different backgrounds. Public Relations and peace-building is Emma's heart and soul. At Operating Together, she manages all social media, website production, and media inquiries.
